Hello future Samford Bulldogs! My name is Andrew Waite and I am the newest addition to the blogger team this semester. I am so excited to be a part of an amazing team of bloggers and am blessed to be a part of this University.
So, this time of the year is always really exciting to me. Everyone is making the transition from the cold, winter weather to the warm, fresh weather of Spring; and as this transition takes place, I can’t help but think of one thing…SPRING BREAK! This week is by far one of my favorite weeks in the entire year, not only because of the warmer weather, being able to hit the beach, or starting to break out your favorite Spring/Summer clothes, but also because of another very, VERY important holiday that falls within this time period…MARCH MADNESS. I am a major basketball fan. After playing the sport for the majority of my life, basketball has now become a very important part of my life, and when March rolls around basketball is everything!
So, what did I do for Spring Break? Well to start, I am from Mobile, Alabama, about an hour away from Gulf Shores and we all know Spring Break isn't Spring Break without the beach, so I took the chance to retreat to Orange Beach with some old high school friends.
After getting sunburned the rest of my week consisted playing some basketball with former high school teammates to prepare for March Madness and spending time with family which was such an amazing blessing getting to see and hang out with the awesome parents and brother God has blessed me with. Then, on Thursday, March 18, at 11:10 a.m. my favorite holiday began: March Madness. I am very dedicated watcher over the course of this 4
week period, especially the first two rounds of the NCCA tournament. To show you how dedicated I am, I print out when each game begins and what channel the game is being televised. Then, I go to the three TVs in the house and set them to different channels that games will be on. After that, I pull up my laptop, phone, and tablet to the March Madness Live Streaming app and choose three other games to have going on. At one time, I am potentially watching six games at one time. It’s definitely MADNESS. I am a happy camper.
So to sum it all up, my Spring Break was amazing! Whether it was the beach, March Madness, hanging with high school friends, March Madness, spending time with my amazing family, March Madness, playing basketball with former teammates, and, yes, even more March Madness, I could not have asked for a better Spring Break! It was so good to get a little piece of home for a while, but I'm definitely excited to be back on campus and am already looking for next year!
