Hello all! The first months of this first semester of college can be so FULL. Filled with recruitment, papers, tailgates, sorority functions, and Family Weekend, it may feel like sometimes you can not catch your breath.
That is why Fall Break is the best! It is at exactly the right time in the semester for a break. We all look forward to these restful or adventurous four days! People go everywhere and do anything. From going home, to the Bahamas, camping in the mountains and everything in between.
During Fall Break I spent the weekend in Rome, Georgia with friends I met here at Samford. My friends Kristina and Mackey invited my friend Lauren and me to come home with them to Rome. They have lived there their whole lives, and it was so special for Lauren and me to be invited home with them! Since Lauren and I are from Orlando, it was so cool to be able to spend time in a small town in the mountains. The amount of deer we saw was SHOCKING.
They took us to their favorite coffee places, restaurants, and hiking trails. The first day we went to an apple orchard and picked apples. It was the perfect fall weather, and the whole time Lauren and I were freaking out since Orlando doesn’t experience seasons like that! We also went to a fall festival and shopped around. It was so much fun to just hang out with these friends in a familiar place to them.
Something I really valued about Fall Break was the opportunity to rest. It was so refreshing to wake up in the mornings and read on the porch overlooking the mountains. I really loved being able to dive into new friendships and experience the special place they call home. That time was sweet, restful, and fun. I left Rome feeling rejuvenated, and thankful for these blooming friendships that I have because of Samford.
